This guide offers a comprehensive overview of the resource availability under the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs (OJP) in all fields of criminal justice through its bureaus and program offices in the areas of funding and grants and training and technical assistance.
Abstract
Since its inception, the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs has provided Federal leadership in developing the Nation's ability and capacity to prevent and control crime, administer justice, and assist crime victims. The success of its mission, to increase public safety and improve the fair administration of justice across America through innovative leadership and programs, has been realized through the efforts of its five bureaus and two operational offices. Each of these bureaus and offices is briefly described in this guide. The program funding opportunities and technical and training assistance resources offered by OJP are described under the following categories: law enforcement; corrections; courts; juvenile justice; victims of crime; substance abuse and crime; technology to fight crime; research, statistics, and evaluation; and tribal justice. Under each of these nine categories, established funding programs are described, as well as specific training and technical assistance services afforded through various Federal and State initiatives, programs, and centers.
