This report on the Ohio crime victim reparations (compensation) program presents statistics on claims activity and expenditures made from the special reparations account for fiscal year 1981. It also includes data from fiscal years 1979 and 1980 to provide perspective and to illustrate the program's growth.
Abstract
Appendixes include lists of awards by amount and denials, as well as lists by source and amount of money deposited in the special account during 1981. For the second year in a row, awards (without considering attorney fees and administrative costs) have exceeded deposits. The balance in the fund has dwindled from a miximum of $6,769,189 on March 31, 1979, to $537,204 at the end of June 1981. It is anticipated that legislative changes will be made during fiscal year 1982 to ensure the continued financial stability of the fund.
