Ohio has enacted legislation that defines functions of the Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation (BCII) and contains provisions on criminal record expungement and sealing, and public records that are maintained in information systems.
Abstract
Legislation specifies functions of the BCII as related to criminal identification and investigation, the coordination of law enforcement activities, training of local law enforcement authorities, and fingerprinting. Legislative requirements are also imposed on the expungement and sealing of criminal records, the disposition and use of criminal record information, the disclosure of confidential information, the availability of and access to public records, and procedures for requesting criminal records.
