This newsletter highlights some of the activities of the U.S. Justice Department's Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP) for the spring of 2005.
Abstract

The newsletter opens with a description of the activities of the 22nd annual commemoration of National Missing Children's Day on May 20, 2005. This is followed by profiles of some of OJJDP's faith-based initiatives, which reflect President Bush's commitment to facilitate cooperation between the Federal Government and faith-based groups in delivering services to citizens. The activities described are the National Faith-Based Mentoring Forum, OJJDP's partnering with faith-based and community organizations on gang reduction, and the launching of the pilot initiative of the National Council for Faith-Based Youth. The newsletter then describes OJJDP's new Court Coordination Program, which is an innovative approach for helping juvenile and family courts to provide more coordinated, individualized services to youth with multiple needs. This is followed by the announcement that OJJDP will host its sixth annual leadership conference for States and communities that are receiving funding under OJJDP's Enforcing Underage Drinking Laws Program. The newsletter then presents brief sections on OJJDP's new publications, a summary of OJJDP's recent funding activities, news from the Coordinating Council on Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention, news from the Federal Advisory Committee on Juvenile Justice, and OJJDP staff news.
