NARRATIVE ANALYSIS OF CURRENT OPERATIONS OF THE COURT, EMPHASIZING THE TREND TOWARD MORE INDIVIDUALIZED TREATMENT OF JUVENILES IN THIS COURT AS A COURT OF LAW.
Abstract
COURT ORGANIZATION AND STAFF - THE OPERATING RELATIONSHIPS AND ADMINISTRATIVE ASPECTS - ARE TOUCHED UPON. THE EXTENT OF THE COURT'S JURISDICTION AND THE NATURE OF AN ADJUDICATIVE HEARING ARE COVERED. THE COURT'S PRESENT TRANSITION PHASE IS ALSO DESCRIBED. THE COURT IS MAINTAINING AN ATTITUDE OF MAKING IT POSSIBLE, IN CONCERT WITH REHABILITATION OBJECTIVES, TO UTILIZE COMMUNITY VOLUNTEER SERVICES IN GREATER DEPTH IN DIVERTING LESS SERIOUS CASES OUTSIDE THE CHANNELS OF THE SYSTEM. THE COURT'S FUTURE SPACE REQUIREMENTS ARE ANALYZED AND A SPECIFIC STATISTICAL SEGMENT ILLUSTRATES KEY AREAS OF THE COURT'S WORKLOAD. THE JUVENILE 'STREET RELEASE' PROGRAM OF THE OMAHA POLICE DIVISION IS OUTLINED IN THE APPENDIX. (AUTHOR ABSTRACT MODIFIED)
