This annual report of the Onondaga County, New York, probation department provides statistical information on activities in the areas of investigation, supervision, and family court intake.
Abstract
Major sections focus on the administrative unit, services to the family court, and services to criminal courts. From 1970 through 1980, investigations have increased 152 percent; supervision, 147 percent; and family court intake services 10 percent. In addition, a comparison of the 1970 and 1980 budgets shows an increase of 158 percent, reflecting the higher costs of increased activities. However, staff increases have totaled only 15 percent over the 10 year period; and due to the greater responsibility and accountability placed on the staff, stress and problems with morale have risen. The reduction in staff expected in 1981 as a result of fiscal constraints is viewed as a major problem. Budget information, data tables, and an organizational chart are included.
