For the adult criminal justice system of Ontario, Canada, and as a model for other Provinces, this pilot document presents the criminal justice terms and definitions used in Ontario as part of a project to develop a common terminology in the criminal justice area.
Abstract
All entries have been alphabetized, and each term carries a code which can be used as a reference number. Those terms which appear as synonyms to other terms are cross-referenced in the Index of Terms. Presented with each term are the term title and definition, followed, when applicable, by the term's synonym and a note. The note provides added detail on the term and often directs the reader to such sources as Canada's criminal code for a fuller context. A total of 516 terms are included. (Author abstract modified)
