Abstract
THIS PROGRAM CONSISTED OF SEMINARS ON NINE DIFFERENT SUBJECTS, INCLUDING DISPATCHER TRAINING, HOMICIDE AND ROBBERY INVESTIGATION, AND POLICE-YOUTH RELATIONS. TWO OF THE SEMINARS OFFERED DURING THIS YEAR WERE FIVE AND TEN DAYS IN DURATION. THE REMAINING COURSES RANGED FROM ONE TO THREE DAYS IN LENGTH. DURING THE YEAR, MORE THAN 40 INSTRUCTORS MADE 45 PRESENTATIONS IN 25 CITIES TO A TOTAL OF 1,642 LAW ENFORCEMENT PERSONNEL. WITH THE EXCEPTION OF TWO HIGHLY SPECIALIZED COURSES, THE TRAINING SESSIONS WERE MADE AVAILABLE TO ALL OFFICERS, REGARDLESS OF RANK OR ASSIGNMENT. A BRIEF EXPLANATION OF EACH SEMINAR COVERS COURSE CONTENT, FORMAT, SUPPORT MATERIAL, DISTRIBUTION, AND STUDENT REACTION. COURSE EVALUATION IS THE RESULT OF CLASS MONITORING, STUDENT INTERVIEWS, LIAISON WITH DEPARTMENT HEADS AND COMMAND OFFICERS AND GENERALLY SUPPLEMENTED BY STUDENT EVALUATION PAPERS. AN ATTENDANCE SURVEY IS ALSO PRESENTED. (AUTHOR ABSTRACT MODIFIED)
