This book presents a model of how pedophiles achieve their ends and how to respond successfully; considers the impact on children, families, staff and society and ways to support them through and after the court process; deals with abuse upon and within Asian communities; and examines the prevalence and different types of abuse, and the interface with pornography and HIV/AIDS.
Abstract
The book includes definitions of terms, discusses the recent history of organized abuse and legal issues, and presents an overview of the literature. In addition, separate chapters discuss: the mind of the pedophile; problems of liaison among investigating agencies; institutional abuse; a police view of pornographic links to child sexual abuse; research findings on ritual abuse; the nature and extent of known cases of organized child sexual abuse in England and Wales; child abuse involving wider kin and family friends; a model for training and staff development; and an agenda for action.
