REPORT GIVES THE EXTENT OF ORGANIZED CRIME ACTIVITY IN TEXAS, AND INDICATES WHAT THE TEXAS ORGANIZED CRIME PREVENTION COUNCIL (TOCPC) IS DOING TO COMBAT IT.
Abstract
TO CONDUCT THIS STUDY, THE TOCPC CONDUCTED: A) A RESEARCH OF THE MAJOR WRITTEN WORKS IN THE FIELD; B) INTERVIEWS IN THE PUBLIC AND PRIVATE SECTOR; AND C) HOUSEHOLD SURVEYS FOR PERCEPTION OF THE PROBLEM. IT ALSO CONTACTED STATES THAT HAVE ORGANIZED CRIME PREVENTION PROGRAMS TO LEARN OF THEIR EXPERIENCES. THE STUDY'S OBJECTIVES WERE TO DETERMINE THE IMPACT OF ORGANIZED CRIME ON TEXAS RESIDENTS AND DEVELOP A STRATEGY FOR CONTROLLING THIS PROBLEM WHICH GROSSES $1.8 TO $3.2 BILLION ANNUALLY IN TEXAS.
