THERE IS AN INCREASING DEVELOPMENT OF LOCAL, NATIONAL, AND INTERNATIONAL ORGANIZED CRIME IN WESTERN EUROPE AND WEST GERMANY AGAINST WHICH TRADITIONAL POLICE METHODS ARE NOT EFFECTIVE.
Abstract
THE AUTHOR ASSERTS THAT ORGANIZED CRIME IN EUROPE MAY GROW TO THE PROPORTIONS ALREADY SEEN IN THE UNITED STATES. EXISTING CRIME STATISTICS DO NOT REFLECT THE SERIOUSNESS OF ORGANIZED CRIME BECAUSE MANY CRIMES GO UNREPORTED AND BECAUSE THE STATISTICS ARE NOT ANALYZED IN A WAY THAT REVEALS ORGANIZED CRIME PATTERNS. SOME COUNTRIES, SUCH AS GREAT BRITAIN AND SWEDEN, HAVE SPECIAL POLICE UNITS WHICH DEAL WITH ORGANIZED CRIME CASES AS PART OF A LARGER ORGANIZED CRIME PROBLEM. DISCUSSED ARE EFFORTS BY WEST GERMAN CRIMINAL JUSTICE AGENCIES TO DETECT AND ANALYZE ORGANIZED CRIME. --IN GERMAN
