OUTLINE OF A NO-COST PROGRAM WHICH CAN BE USED TO FILL THE GAP BETWEEN COMMISSION AND FORMAL TRAINING FOR NEW RECRUITS AND AUXILIARY OFFICERS.
Abstract
THIS TRAINING PROGRAM IS DIVIDED INTO SEVEN SEPARATE TRAINING SECTIONS, EACH SECTION CONSISTING OF APPROXIMATELY FOUR HOURS OF INSTRUCTION. THE SUBJECT MATTER COVERED IN THE TRAINING PROGRAM INCLUDE AUXILIARY POLICE, THE CONSTITUTION AND CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM, CRIMINAL LAW AND PROCEDURE, OPERATIONAL SKILLS, LAW ENFORCEMENT TECHNIQUES, TRAFFIC CONTROL, ACCIDENT AND CRIMINAL INVESTIGATION, AND PROFESSIONALISM. THE PROGRAM IS DESIGNED TO BE SUPPLEMENTED BY MONTHLY SEMINARS ON ADDITIONAL TOPICS. A COPY OF THE CITY ORDINANCE CREATING THE YOUNGSTOWN (OH) POLICE AUXILIARY UNIT IS ALSO INCLUDED.
