A NARRATIVE INTERPRETATION OF MURDER STATISTICS IS HIGHLIGHTED BY A NUMBER OF CASE HISTORIES OF MURDERS AND MURDERERS.
Abstract
THE AUTHOR DISCLOSES THAT MOST MURDERERS WERE ACQUAINTED WITH THEIR VICTIMS; MURDERERS ARE A HETEROGENOUS GROUP; AND MOST MURDERS DO NOT RESULT IN FINANCIAL GAIN. WOMEN ARE MOST LIKELY TO DIE IN THEIR BEDROOMS; MASS MURDERERS ARE ALL WHITE MALES; AND ABOUT ONE-THIRD OF MURDER VICTIMS PROVOKE THEIR KILLERS. SOME PSYCHOLOGICAL TYPES OF MURDERERS ARE IDENTIFIED SUCH AS SCHIZOPHRENICS, PARANOICS, ETC.
