THIS ARTICLE DESCRIBES HOW CRISIS INTERVENTION IN A JUVENILE DETENTION FACILITY CAN HELP STAFF MEMBERS OUT OF A VARIETY OF PROBLEM SITUATIONS.
Abstract
CRISIS INTERVENTION TO THE JUVENILE HALL STAFF IS LIKE A SAND WEDGE TO THE GOLFER: IT CAN HELP CONQUER TROUBLE. THE CRISIS INTERVENTION PROGRAM IS TAUGHT AS A 40-HOUR TRAINING SESSION, WITH EIGHT CURRICULA. THESE INCLUDE SAFETY, DEFUSING, BRIEF INTERVIEWING, MEDIATION, REFERRAL, CULTURE, LEGAL, AND CONSOLIDATION. BASICALLY, THE STUDENTS LEARN TO ASSESS A DISPUTE AND HOW TO PLUG INTO IT.
