This study assesses and compares two treatment technologies -- Positive Peer Culture (PPC) and Guided Group Interaction (GGI) -- that are currently used at the Michigan Training School for Boys.
Abstract
PPC outperformed GGI on all but one variable and was more instrumental in attaining select institutional goals. Although there are certain characteristics of youths most associated with success under these treatment programs, the study was unable to determine which youths were best suited for which treatment technology. PPC was more successful with these particular subjects because they were less serious delinquents and easier to work with, and because of differences in treatment philosophies. Study data, data collection forms, and about 30 references are appended.
