Abstract
DUTIES OF THE U.S. MARSHAL INCLUDE ATTENDANCE UPON THE COURT AND PRESERVING ORDER IN THE COURTROOM, SERVICE OF PROCESS, TRANSPORTATION AND COMMITMENT OF PRISONERS, SERVICE AS DISBURSING OFFICER, PROTECTION OF GOVERNMENT WITNESSES, AND PROVIDING PERSONAL SECURITY TO FEDERAL JUDGES. OTHER DUTIES ARE PROVIDING SCREENING OF PASSENGERS AT MAJOR DOMESTIC AIRPORTS THROUGHOUT THE UNITED STATES AND ASSISTING THE DEPUTY ATTORNEY GENERAL IN MATTERS OF FEDERAL EMERGENCY INVOLVING CIVIL DISTURBANCES.
