A BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE OPERATIONS AND RESULTS OF THIS COMMUNITY-BASED PROGRAM WHICH ATTEMPTS TO TEACH ACADEMIC, PRE-VOCATIONAL AND SOCIAL SKILLS TO DELINQUENT, EMOTIONALLY DISTURBED, AND RETARDED YOUTHS.
Abstract
AFTER BRIEFLY CITING THE WIDE SCOPE AND DIVERSITY OF TOKEN ECONOMY PROGRAMS AND REVIEWING SOME OF THESE PROGRAMS FOR ADOLESCENTS IN GREATER DETAIL, THE AUTHORS DESCRIBE THE STRUCTURE AND OPERATION OF THE PACE PROGRAM. THE BASIC OPERATING FRAMEWORK OF THIS RESIDENTIAL PROGRAM INVOLVES A TOKEN ECONOMY. FOLLOW-UP RESULTS OF RESIDENTS, DISCHARGED FROM 1968 TO 1971, ARE PRESENTED IN TERMS OF SUCCESS AND FAILURE RATES, AND THE RELATED ISSUES OF GENERALIZATION OF TREATMENT GAINS TO THE COMMUNITY SITUATION AND ASSESSMENT OF THESE GENERALIZATIONS ARE DISCUSSED.
