FORMATION AND ORGANIZATION OF THE CINCINNATI POLICE UNIVERSITY OF CINCINNATI CONSORTIUM, A COLLABORATIVE EFFORT OF MUTUAL BENEFIT.
Abstract
THE CINCINNATI POLICE DIVISION BENEFITS BY APPLICATION OF UNIVERSITY RESOURCES TO EXPLORE AND SOLVE POLICE PROBLEMS. THE UNIVERSITY CAN INVOLVE ITSELF IN IMPROVING THE EXISTING SOCIAL SYSTEM WHILE OFFERING POLICE WORK TO STUDENTS AS A NEW AREA OF RESEARCH AND LEARNING. THOUGH STILL IN PLANNING STAGES, INITIAL CONSORTIUM PROJECTS ARE (1) A SEMINAR SERIES FOR POLICE SUPERVISORY OFFICERS TO DEVELOP MANAGEMENT SKILLS NEEDED TO EFFECT CHANGE IN A FAST-CHANGING SOCIETY, AND (2) DESIGN OF A MANAGEMENT TRAINING PROGRAM TO AID POLICE SERGEANTS IN THEIR TRANSITION FROM SUBORDINATE TO SUPERVISOR.
