This is a workbook for adolescents beginning sex-offender treatment.
Abstract
The workbook does not claim to be a comprehensive program description. Exercises were designed to complement a well-structured counseling/group therapy program and will be most useful when introduced early in the course of treatment for adolescent sex offenders. The workbook discusses the issue of confidentiality and reviews divergent theoretical models and treatment rationales. It is divided into 13 chapters: (1) Court, Evaluation, and Initial Reactions; (2) Your Treatment Goals and Becoming a Group Member; (3) Disclosing: How Do I Explain What I've Done; (4) Learning About Victims; (5) Why Did I Do It? Understanding How I Committed My Sexual Offenses; (6) Identifying My Grooming and Maintenance Behaviors; (7) Understanding My Pre-offense Pattern and My Offense and Maintenance Cycles; (8) Controlling My Urge to Offend; (9) Creating My Offense Prevention Plan; (10) What If I Was Abused? (11) Clarification: Making Things Clear; (12) Steps to Sex-offender Accountability; and (13) How Am I Doing? A New Attitude. Figures, note, references
