Abstract
MEANS AND METHODS OF POLICE ACTIONS AGAINST ORGANIZED CRIME ARE SKETCHED; THE ENACTMENT OF STRICTER LEGISLATION IS BRIEFLY DISCUSSED. COMBATTING ORGANIZED CRIME WITH MORE PUNITIVE LAWS HAS BEEN ACCOMPANIED BY AN UPDATING OF METHODS AND REORGANIZATION IN THE FRENCH POLICE FORCE; AN INCREASE IN MANPOWER AND TECHNOLOGICAL SOPHISTICATION HAS ALSO CONTRIBUTED TO THE WAR AGAINST CRIME.
