These two computer diskettes present the information in Partnerships Against Violence (PAVNET), a new initiative that reflects cooperation among several agencies to provide an information-sharing resource on promising programs to prevent or address violence and violence causes, as well as sources for information, technical assistance, and funding.
Abstract
PAVNET is a collaboration among the Departments of Justice, Agriculture, Education, Health and Human Services, Housing and Urban Development, and Labor to facilitate the development of comprehensive approaches to reducing violence. PAVNET uses information from more than 30 Federal clearinghouses and resource centers. The PAVNET data are available in diskette, in print, and on the Internet. The first of the two WorkPerfect 5.1 diskettes describes programs organized by general topic area: community violence, youth violence, family violence, drug abuse, and victims. Programs are described with respect to their target audiences, startup dates, annual budgets, evaluation information, content, and contact information. The second diskette offers resources for information, technical assistance, and funding available to communities, agencies, and individuals interested in learning about and establishing the types of program strategies described on the first diskette.
