This pamphlet describes the implementation of peer mediation programs in schools, aimed at teaching students peaceful ways to resolve their conflicts.
Abstract
Preparatory steps to take when considering the implementation of a peer mediation program include gathering information on programs in other schools, gaining administrative and faculty support, training a small group of faculty members in peer mediation, and selecting a representative group of students to be similarly trained. This pamphlet lists resources available for starting, maintaining, and implementing school-based mediation programs and lists schools in North Carolina that have developed such programs. A more detailed outline for building administrative and faculty support is also presented.
