Abstract
It is designed for use by those who have received training in the Citizenship Law-related Education Peer Conflict Mediation Model developed for Maryland schools. The materials are intended to enable those who have been trained in the mediation process to become trainers of teachers who can in turn become trainers of mediators. The training emphasizes understanding anger and conflict, communication and questioning techniques, and role playing in the mediation process. The manual explains the steps involved in implementing a peer conflict mediation program in a school; the content and schedule of a peer mediation training lasting 12 hours over 3 days; the use of classroom activities to implement the program; data collection and evaluation to assess the program.
