ASSESSMENT OF THIS PROJECT DESIGNED TO PROVIDE A FAMILY-LIKE HOME, EMPLOYMENT, EDUCATIONAL COUNSELING, AND REFERRAL SERVICES TO NEWLY-PAROLED MEN.
Abstract
PROJECT AND EVALUATION ACTIVITIES ARE DISCUSSED AND ANALYZED. THE CRITERIA USED TO EVALUATE THE HOME WAS PAROLE RECIDIVISM. DURING THE PROJECT YEAR, NO PAROLEES WERE RETURNED TO PRISON FOR EITHER PAROLE VIOLATION OR A NEW CONVICTION DURING THEIR RESIDENCY AT THE HOME OF INDUSTRY. THE EVALUATOR CONCLUDED, THEREFORE, THAT THE PROJECT WAS HAVING A SIGNIFICANT IMPACT UPON RECIDIVISM, DURING THE PERIOD IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING A MAN'S RELEASE ON PAROLE. IT WAS RECOMMENDED THAT THE HOME'S MAXIMUM PAROLEE INTAKE BE LIMITED TO TWELVE RESIDENTS, DESPITE A DESIGNATED CAPACITY OF 15; THAT AT LEAST ONE PROFESSIONAL STAFF MEMBER BE HIRED TO INSURE MORE COMPREHENSIVE COUNSELING SERVICES, AND THAT THE PROJECT STAFF MAKE MORE EXTENSIVE UTILIZATION OF COMMUNITY RESOURCES.
