STATISTICAL ANALYSIS OF MURDER AND MANSLAUGHTER OFFENSES AND OFFENDERS OVER A TEN YEAR PERIOD IN THE STATE OF VICTORIA, AUSTRALIA.
Abstract
DURING THIS PERIOD, 374 PERSONS WERE CRIMINALLY KILLED AND 199 PERSONS (17 FEMALES) WERE INCARCERATED FOR MURDER OR MANSLAUGHTER. IN THE SECTION ON OFFENSES, VICTIMS, CLEARANCE RATES, AND COURT DISPOSITIONS WERE STUDIED. THE OFFENDER ANALYSIS ADDRESSED DEMOGRAPHIC, SPATIAL, AND TEMPORAL FACTORS AS WELL AS SALIENT FEATURES OF THE OFFENSE. NUMEROUS DATA TABLES ARE PRESENTED.
