VARIOUS METHODS USED IN IDENTIFYING BOTH SUSPECTS AND VICTIMS OF CRIME.
Abstract
THE FIRST PART OF THE BOOK IS DEVOTED TO METHODS THAT MAY BE EMPLOYED IN IDENTIFICATION. THE READER LEARNS WHAT IS AVAILABLE AND WHAT TO DO WHEN HE ENCOUNTERS EACH TYPE OF IDENTIFICATION MATERIAL. IDENTIFICATION TECHNIQUES COVERED INCLUDE THE USE OF COMPOSITES, VOICEPRINTS, ODONTOLOGY, SKELETAL AND EAR IDENTIFICATION, AND FINGER, PALM, AND FOOT PRINTS. A LARGE PORTION OF THE BOOK IS DEVOTED TO THE LAST THREE METHODS OF IDENTIFICATION. NUMEROUS DRAWINGS, PHOTOS, CHARTS, AND ACTUAL SETS OF FINGERPRINTS CLARIFY THE PROCEDURES DISCUSSED. INFORMATION IS GIVEN ON THE LEGAL ASPECTS OF FINGERPRINTING AND THE USES OF THE COMPUTER IN IDENTIFICATION. STUDY QUESTIONS AND REFERENCES APPEAR AT THE CONCLUSION OF EACH CHAPTER.
