PROCEDURES DESCRIBED COMBINE THE MAKING OF A HIGH QUALITY PHOTOGRAPHIC RECORD AND THE PRESERVATION OF THE ACTUAL PRINTS.
Abstract
THE METHOD INVOLVES DUSTING THE LATENT IMPRESSIONS ON GLASS WITH BLACK POWDER AND THEN COVERING THEM WITH A WHITE RUBBER 'LIFTER'. THE LIFTER ACTS AS A BACKGROUND FOR THE PHOTOGRAPH WHICH IS THEN TAKEN. FINALLY, THE PRINTS ARE 'LIFTED' FROM THE GLASS AND THE TRANSPARENT COVERING OF THE LIFTER IS REPLACED IN ORDER TO PROTECT THE IMPRESSIONS DURING TRANSPORTATION AND STORAGE.
