This series teaches law enforcement officers the various procedures and techniques necessary to collect and identify physical evidence for laboratory analysis.
Abstract
The crime scene is a residential burglary. Police arrive on the scene and question the victims. The emphasis is on preserving the physical evidence until backup officers and ultimately the police detectives and photographer arrive. With the arrival of the investigative team, evidence collection begins. Blood scrapings from the wall, a cigarette butt, and other incriminating items are sealed in containers and labeled; photographs are made of the crime scene; fingerprints are lifted; and the crime scene is sketched. The films stop periodically to ask questions of the audience, allowing time for class discussion of the points raised.
