STUDY CONDUCTED AT THE BERKELEY POLICE DEPARTMENT ON THE USE OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY IN PROVIDING PROOF FOR PHYSICAL LINKS BETWEEN A CRIMINAL AND HIS CRIME.
Abstract
THE DOCUMENTARY ASPECT OF RETRIEVAL, OR LABORATORY INPUT, IS THE LEVEL WHICH THIS STUDY SOUGHT TO MEASURE. SIX OBSERVERS WERE FAMILIARIZED WITH THE STUDY DESIGN AND DISCUSSED THE RECOGNITION OF PHYSICAL OBJECTS AT SITES OF VIOLENCE THAT COULD HAVE EVIDENCIARY SIGNIFICANCE. THE STUDY ALSO DIRECTED ATTENTION TO THE PROBLEM OF RETRIEVAL IN MEASURING CRIME LABORATORY IMPACT OCCURRING ALONG THE COMMUNICATION CHANNELS IN THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM.
