A BRIEF REVIEW IS GIVEN OF RECENT RESEARCH IN THE UNITED KINGDOM IN THE FIELD OF PHYSICAL METHODS OF FINGERPRINT DEVELOPMENT AND THE PHYSICAL PROPERTIES OF FINGERPRINTS.
Abstract
WORK ON THE MICROSCOPIC AND ELECTRICAL PROPERTIES OF FINGERPRINTS IS DISCUSSED. ALSO, SOME RESEARCH ON THE MECHANICS OF POWDER ADHESION TO FINGERPRINTS IS REPORTED. THE DEVELOPMENT OF FINGERPRINTS BY THE USE OF METAL VAPOR UNDER VACUUM IS DISCUSSED AS WELL. IT IS NOTED THAT THIS METHOD HAS BEEN USED FOR THE SUCCESSFUL DEVELOPMENT OF SCENE OF CRIME FINGERPRINTS ON POLYTHENE. (AUTHOR ABSTRACT MODIFIED)
