The 1994 annual report of the Pierce County, Washington, Office of the Prosecuting Attorney (OPA) notes accomplishments and problem areas and describes operations of the OPA's civil and criminal divisions.
Abstract
During 1994, the OPA's Felony Division saw a 9 percent increase in cases filed. Three Strikes legislation was enacted in 1994, and the law has been used to put violent career criminals away for life. Pierce County established a drug court, the Juvenile Division began to recover from an increase in juvenile violence, the Misdemeanor Division began operating a Domestic Violence Trial Team, and efforts were made to reduce court caseloads. Expenditures by the OPA for 1994 are tabulated, and functions and activities of OPA's civil and criminal divisions are described. Criminal divisions include felony, juvenile, and misdemeanor divisions. Tables and figures
