A DESCRIPTION OF THE GOALS, ACTIVITIES, SELECTION PROCESS, AND FIRST YEAR PROGRESS OF THIS PROJECT WHICH PROVIDES PROSECUTORIAL DIVERSION INTO HABILITATIVE SERVICES FOR FIRST-TIME NON-VIOLENT FELONY OFFENDERS.
Abstract
THIS REPORT OUTLINES THE PROGRAM CRITERIA FOR ACCEPTANCE, THE PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS OF PARTICIPANTS, VICTIM AND LAW ENFORCEMENT PARTICIPATION, THE PROGRAM FOR COUNTY AND CITY MISDEMEANOR, THE PILOT PROGRAM FOR UNLAWFUL POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA, AND THE DIVERSION STAFF AND JOB DESCRIPTIONS. FIVE ADULT DIVERSION PROJECT CASE HISTORIES ARE PROVIDED. BASIC STATISTICAL INFORMATION ABOUT THE ADULT DIVERSION PROJECT (ADP) IS ALSO INCLUDED. IN THIS SECTION, AN ASSESSMENT OF THE FIVE OVERALL OBJECTIVES OF THE ADP IS GIVEN, INCLUDING A COST COMPARISON OF TRADITIONAL PROSECUTION VERSUS DIVERSION. STATISTICAL INFORMATION IS PRESENTED ON ALL OF THE ADP PARTICIPANTS CURRENTLY IN THE PROGRAM. FINALLY, THE INFORMATION ON PROGRAM PARTICIPANTS IS BROKEN INTO THREE SEPARATE PROJECT CATEGORIES: FELONY, COUNTY AND CITY MISDEMEANORS, AND UNLAWFUL POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA.
