INTENDED TO PROVIDE A PRACTICAL GUIDE TO CORRECTIONAL AGENCIES CONTEMPLATING USING THE MUTUAL AGREEMENT PROGRAMMING (MAP) PROCESS, THIS MANUAL DESCRIBES MAP SERVICES AND ROLE CHANGES OCCURRING IN THE MAP PROCESS.
Abstract
THE OVERALL MAP PROCESS IS DESCRIBED IN DETAIL FROM ORIENTATION THROUGH CONTRACT NEGOTIATION UP TO PAROLE FOLLOW-UP. DESCRIPTIONS OF ROLE CHANGES IN PAROLE BOARDS, CORRECTIONS, AND INMATES RESULTING FROM IMPLEMENTATION OF THE MAP PROCESS ARE PROVIDED, AND THE ROLE OF THE MAP COORDINATOR IS OUTLINED. RESOURCES WHICH MAY BE USED IN THE MAP CONTRACT ARE ALSO DISCUSSED, INCLUDING INSTITUTIONAL PROGRAMS, COMMUNITY PROGRAMS, OTHER STATE AND FEDERAL AGENCIES, AND THE PAROLE AGENCY. A DESCRIPTION OF VOUCHER SERVICES FOR MAP INMATES IS PROVIDED AS WELL. INCLUDED IN THE APPENDIXES ARE EXAMPLES OF THE MAP MODEL, MAP FORMS, AND A MAP/VOUCHER POLICY. (AUTHOR ABSTRACT MODIFIED)
