This chapter describes the comprehensive process in the planning and development of a successful local partnership to address the developmental needs of at-risk children through a continuum of services.
Abstract
In this chapter, the process in developing local partnerships within communities to provide a continuum of services appropriate for the developmental needs of at-risk children is described. To begin this process, communities must assemble their key leadership which means establishing a working relationship with key collaborators and establishing a consensus of purpose. Steps following the assembling of key leadership includes: (1) developing a governance structure; (2) conducting a needs assessment; (3) developing and stating the vision, mission, goals, and objectives; (4) outlining the impact analysis and process evaluation process; (5) creating resource development and financial management plans; (6) developing a marketing collaboration plan for essential support and partnerships; (7) developing a long-range plan for essential services; (8) establishing an implementation plan based on vision and mission; (9) profiling key staff; (10) outlining key project staff roles, duties, and responsibilities and professional human capital development process; and (11) preparing the project site. Once the planning process is complete it is now time for the partnership to act. References and exhibits
