Abstract
The book discusses the impact of community policing on police administration and the expanded coverage of the Chicago Alternative Policing Strategy. It also discusses police brutality and scandal as well as militias, right-wing groups in the United States, and school violence. It reviews arguments for and against requiring a college education for police applicants. The book examines police suicide, the phenomenon known as suicide by cop, stress and the female police officer, and police domestic violence. Legal Aspects of Police Administration includes a section concerning the Abner Louima case and other high profile cases in New York City. The book discusses a recent Supreme Court decision that limits liability for injuries and deaths associated with high speed police pursuit.
