THE FUNCTIONS OF THE POLICE AND THE VARIOUS POLICE AGENCIES IN ENGLAND ARE SET FORTH IN SIMPLE, EASY-TO-UNDERSTAND LANGUAGE. ILLUSTRATIONS APPEAR IN COLOR AND IN BLACK-AND-WHITE. ONE OF THEM DEPICTS A POLICEMAN STOPPING TRAFFIC TO ALLOW A MOTHER DUCK AND HER BROOD OF DUCKLINGS TO CROSS THE STREET SAFELY.
