Abstract
THE WORKSHOP, SPONSORED BY THE WEST GERMAN BUREAU FOR CRIMINAL INVESTIGATION AND HELD IN WIESBADEN, BROUGHT TOGETHER SENIOR POLICE OFFICERS, CRIMINOLOGISTS, POLITICIANS, JOURNALISTS, LEGAL EXPERTS, AND INTERNATIONAL CRIMINAL JUSTICE EXPERTS WITH THE GOAL OF EXPLORING THE LEGISLATIVE, EXECUTIVE, AND JUDICIAL ASPECTS OF CRIME PREVENTION. THE LECTURES RANGE FROM AN EXAMINATION OF THE GENERAL POSITION OF CRIME PREVENTION IN THE FIELD OF CRIMINOLOGY TO A REPORT ON PRACTICAL PREVENTION PROGRAMS (AS THOSE OF THE HAMBURG, LONDON, AND SWEDISH POLICE), TO DISCUSSIONS OF CRIME SPECIFIC COUNTERMEASURES (ECONOMIC CRIME), THE ROLE OF REPRESSION AS A PREVENTIVE MEASURE, AND MASS-MEDIA IN CRIME PREVENTION.
