Abstract
THE ESSAYS ADDRESS THE FOLLOWING QUESTION: TO WHAT EXTENT IS POLICE BEHAVIOR DETERMINED BY THE SOCIAL ENVIRONMENT IN WHICH POLICE OPERATE?
