Abstract

"The Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, Police's Joint Community-Police Partnership" describes how two police departments cooperated with various community organizations to address conflicts among diverse residents with various languages, family structures, social customs, and religious beliefs. "Community Policing in the Delray Beach, FL, Haitian Community" describes how the Delray Beach Police Department enlisted the support of the Haitian community in order to identify and prosecute members of a criminal subculture that controlled the Haitian community. "Building Trust, Driving Relationships With the Dearborn, Michigan, Arab American Community" describes how the Dearborn Police Department has developed programs designed to instill confidence in the police among Arab-Americans and provided police training and performance measurement that emphasizes "multidimensional and information-sharing policing." "Developing a Multifaceted Approach to Hispanic Outreach" describes the features of a plan developed by the Tulsa Police Department (Oklahoma) to improve services to Hispanic individuals with limited English proficiency, so as to increase trust and cooperation with all members of the community. "Noble Cause Corruption and Police Discretion" addresses police corruption that occurs when good officers substitute their personal values for the values of the profession and the law in the use of their discretion. "INTERPOL: a Counterterrorism Resource for Police Executives" describes the ways in which INTERPOL has developed and provides terrorism-related information to member nations.
