Abstract
Decreases are also reported for the violent crimes of murder, manslaughter, infanticide, assault, robbery, fatal injury, rape, and kidnapping. Criminal use of firearms and drug-related offenses also decreased, by 22.62 percent and 4.70 percent respectively. Theft offenses comprised 70.51 percent of the total crime incidents. The number of non-German offenders increased by 10.524 percent over 1978, comprising 9.38 percent of the total apprehensions for 1979. Summary analyses are presented on general crime trends, violent crimes, weapons use in various crime types, and the criminal geography of Lower Saxony. Reported and solved crimes are compared by crime type and offender age. Data on foreign offenders indicate their national origin and compare their numbers between 1971 and 1979. Information is also provided on age and sex of victims and offenders, and on amount loss incurred from property offenses. The organization and activities of the State Criminal Police Department of Lower Saxony are summarized in conclusion. The bulk of the volume is composed of tabular data.
