THIS PAPER DESCRIBES, WITH ILLUSTRATIVE CASE HISTORIES DRAWN FROM THE AUTHOR'S OWN EXPERIENCE, THE DEPENDENCE OF POLICE ON THE FORENSIC SCIENTIST IN THE INVESTIGATION OF SEXUAL OFFENSES.
Abstract
THE AUTHOR DISCUSSES HOW THE POLICE, OFTEN FACED WITH A LACK OF DIRECT EVIDENCE, MAY TURN TO THE SCIENTIST TO SUPPLY THE MISSING LINKS AND TO INVESTIGATE THE ACCURACY OF THE COMPLAINER'S OR SUSPECT'S STATEMENT. (AUTHOR ABSTRACT)
