A CONFERENCE ON GENERATING AND IMPROVING THE PRESENT STATE OF RESEARCH WITHIN POLICE ORGANIZATIONS AND TO ESTABLISH METHODS OF COMMUNICATION.
Abstract
THE CONSENSUS WAS THAT RESEARCH SHOULD BE A CONTINUOUS AND INTEGRAL PART OF THE POLICE ORGANIZATION. THE CONFEREES FELT THAT THE POLICE WERE PRIMARILY RESPONSIBLE FOR THEIR OWN PLANNING. TWO MAJOR PROBLEM AREAS WERE IDENTIFIED AS FURTHER INTEGRATING INFORMATION INTO THE POLICE DECISIONMAKING PROCESS, AND SUBSEQUENTLY CENTRALIZING THIS INFORMATION FOR NATIONAL ACCESS. THE CONFEREES DISCUSSED AN ORGANIZATIONAL MODEL FOR AN ADVISORY GROUP OR AGENCY WHOSE OBJECTIVE WOULD BE TO STIMULATE, COORDINATE, AND FUND RESEARCH IN THE POLICE FIELD. A FRENCH LANGUAGE VERSION IS PROVIDED. FOR RELATED CONFERENCES, SEE NCJ-14250 AND 14258. --IN FRENCH AND ENGLISH
