THE DEVELOPMENT OF TRAINING MATERIAL FOR POLICE MANAGEMENT PERSONNEL CONCERNING COMMAND AND SUPERVISORY ACTIONS APPROPRIATE FOR MORE EFFECTIVE DWI ENFORCEMENT IS DESCRIBED.
Abstract
THE TRAINING IS BASED ON TWO RESEARCH STUDIES THAT IDENTIFIED ENVIRONMENTAL AND ATTITUDINAL FACTORS THAT INFLUENCE A PATROLMAN'S ARREST DECISION. THE TRAINING IS DESIGNED AS A WORKSHOP AND USES THE CASE-STUDY TECHNIQUE. THE DEVELOPMENT OF BOTH CONTENT AND FORMAT IS DESCRIBED AS WELL AS THE RESULTS OF PILOT TEST AND EVALUATION. THE APPENDIX CONTAINS THE TASK DESCRIPTIONS FROM THE PROJECT PLAN, THE WORKSHOP SCHEDULE, A PLAN FOR EVALUATING THE EFFECTS OF THE TRAINING WORKSHOP, AND MEMORANDUM REPORTS ON THREE PILOT TESTS OF THE TRAINING PROGRAM.
