THE DEVELOPMENT OF COURTS IN OTHER TIMES AND OTHER SOCIETIES IS TRACED AND COURT ORGANIZATION IN FEDERAL AND STATE SYSTEMS IS DELINEATED. THE VARIOUS PRETRIAL, TRIAL AND POST-TRIAL PROCEDURES ARE EXAMINED USING THE CALIFORNIA STATE LAWS AND PROCEDURES AS SPECIFIC ILLUSTRATIONS.
