Abstract
THE REPORT EXAMINES PATROL CARS FROM FUNCTIONAL AND DESIGN VIEW POINTS; BY MAJOR SYSTEMS AND SUBSYSTEMS, OPTIONAL EQUIPMENT AND ACCESSORIES. ACQUISITION METHODS AND THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN DESIGN AND PERFORMANCE SPECIFICATIONS ARE DISCUSSED. OTHER SUBJECTS CONCERN VEHICLE TESTING, FUEL EFFICIENCY, AND NEW ENGINE TECHNOLOGY. THE REPORT POINTS TO AREAS WHERE VEHICLE PERFORMANCE IS NOT MEETING POLICE REQUIREMENTS AND WHERE IMPROVEMENTS CAN BE MADE WITHIN THE PRESENT STATE OF THE ART. A LIST OF PUBLICATIONS REFERRED TO IN THE TEXT OR CONSULTED BY THE AUTHOR IN PRODUCING THIS STUDY IS PROVIDED IN THE BIBLIOGRAPHY. (SNI ABSTRACT)
