This text provides an introduction to photography for law enforcement personnel.
Abstract
Following a review of the history and uses of photography in police work, the importance of light is discussed. Different types of cameras and their features are described, as are characteristics of varying types of film. Guidelines are provided for planning and equipping a darkroom, and procedures for developing film and enlarging photographs are described. Techniques for controlling exposure in a variety of lighting conditions (including flash) are presented. Needed accessories (filters, flashes, light meters, tripods) also are described. Individual chapters detail special techniques for photographing accidents, various crimes, evidence, documents, and identification. Infrared and ultraviolet photography also are covered. Glossary, index, and 66 references.
