POLITICAL ATTITUDES ARE ASCRIBED TO POLICE WHICH MAKE THEM APPEAR TO FAVOR CERTAIN SECTIONS OF SOCIETY.
Abstract
THE AUTHOR STATES THAT SINCE LEGAL CHANGES TAKE TIME, LAWS ARE ALMOST INVARIABLY OUT OF STEP WITH THE VIEWS OF EACH SUCCESSIVE GENERATION. IN UPHOLDING THE LAW, POLICE OFFICERS ARE PERCEIVED AS SUPPORTING THE IDEALS OF ONLY THE OLDER GENERATION AND AS HAVING 'POLITICAL' ATTITUDES.
