Abstract
The manual's first section focuses on supervision and personnel matters. It presents 17 supervisor-subordinate issues of an internal nature, all of which are crucial to the proper functioning of a modern, well-managed police agency. Topics include discipline, evaluations, field training, grievances, orders, and reprimands. The second section raises issues involving 17 types of patrol-related situations, including traffic accidents, crime scenes, demonstrations, field investigations, intoxicated drivers, lost or missing persons, and others. The third section presents scenarios and questions related to tactical procedures and emergency situations. It presents 19 types of events in which patrol officers either request or otherwise require the supervisor's assistance in handling serious and dangerous assignments varying from routine to unusual. Included are arrest situations, disturbances, family disputes, fire scenes, hostage situations, vehicle pursuits and stops, ambush attacks, aircraft accidents, and others.
