This survey of police forces was initiated and organized by the Hungarian Helsinki Committee to obtain information on ways in which police forces of former Socialist countries have changed since 1989-1990.
Abstract
The survey was based on a standardized questionnaire, the answers to which were summarized in country reports providing information about police tasks, budgets, organizational structures, accountability, international relationships, and coercive measures used by the police. In addition to police-related legal texts of seven ex-Socialist countries, the CD-ROM includes country reports from Germany and the United Kingdom that can be used as points of reference.
