Abstract
MANAGEMENT POLICIES AND ECONOMIC FACTORS INFLUENCING POLICE TRANSPORTATION PROGRAMS ARE EXAMINED AND ANALYZED. THE TRANSPORTATION NEEDS OF LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES OF ALL SIZES, FROM SMALLER JURISDICTIONS TO THOSE WITH STATEWIDE AUTHORITY ARE DISCUSSED. THE METHODS BY WHICH VEHICLES ARE ENGINEERED FOR PARTICULAR POLICE TASKS AND DUTIES ARE EXPLAINED, ALONG WITH A CONSIDERATION OF THE PHYSICAL ASPECTS OF VEHICLE SAFETY. THE WRITING OF BID SPECIFICATIONS FOR THE PURPOSE OF PURCHASING TRANSPORTATION EQUIPMENT IS OUTLINED IN DETAIL. PARTICULARS REGARDING VEHICLE MAINTENANCE AND REPLACEMENT ARE COVERED.
